Company seeks air licence

PA Auckland An Auckland company has applied to the Government for approval to set up a specialist international freight airline. Pacific Air Freight’s chairman, Mr David Dunningham, said yesterday that its application was in the hands of the Minister of Civil Aviation. He said that if Pacific Air Freight got approval it would aim to have a DCB freighter flying by October. Mr Dunningham said Pacific Air Freight had been formed recently as a holding company to establish the name and credentials for its application for

an air licence. He said there were great opportunities and potential for New Zealand exports, and the company had already found new markets which would make certain airfreight routes viable. The company, he said, had already had talks with a big company regarding the export of livestock to Central America and to Thailand to supplement existing freight routes to Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Mr Dunningham said the flights would be complementary to, rather than competitive with, those of Air New Zealand.
