Apprentice injured
PA Tauherenikau The 15-year-old apprentice, Sherie O’Connor, was sent to hospital with suspected internal injuries after a fall in the Second Watson Maiden at Tauherenikau yesterday. O’Connor, who was having her seventh ride, was riding Avadell which is trained by her employer, a Wanganui trainer, Wayne Marshment. The fall occurred about 1200 m from home when her mount clipped the heels of the horse in front and in falling also brought down the second favourite, Beau Duke, which was ridden by Des Harris. Harris escaped injury.
