Burglar’s nap

PA Wellington A Naenae burglar was caught napping early yesterday morning — he fell asleep on the job.

The Lower Hutt police found the man asleep in a tobacconist’s shop.

Sergeant Bryan Oliver said a woman telephoned the police just before 3 a.m. to say she had heard the sound of breaking glass near the Naenae shopping centre. When a police patrol investigated, they found a hole in the tobacconist’s window, and a man, aged 36, inside. The man, would face two burglary charges in the District Court at Lower Hutt.
