More than $lO,OOO worth of Canterbury Hospital Board property was returned during a two-week amnesty held last month. Since the amnesty, there had been a "marked imErovement” in the return of oard property, said the supervising orthotist, Mr Alan Beeching. The medical , superintendent, Dr David Andrews, told a meeting of the board’s health services committee yesterday that before the Jamnesty the hospital had reached “an absurd situation” where two patients due to be discharged from the orthopaedic department had had to stay longer because there were no crutches for them.
Two pairs had to be bought before the patients could leave.
