Tests for heart transplant patient
NZPA London A retired Wellington social worker, David Amer, was continuing to undergo tets at Harefield Hospital, Middlesex, in preparation for likely heart transplant surgery. “The tests are continuing ... he is all right at the moment,” a hospital spokesman said. Mr Amer, aged 50, suffers
from coronary heart disease and travelled to London last week with his wife, son, and a Wellington Hospital cardiologist, Richard Thompson, after an appeal by the Waitangirua Lions Club raised $65,000 in two weeks. If the surgical team is satisfied with the tests, a transplant could take place at any time in the next few weeks.
