Brierley hit
Share prices turned mixed as profit-takers took advantage of the higher prices on the New Zealand Stock Exchange yesterday ahead of last evening’s Budget, The Barclays industrial index lost 8.77 points to 1279.11, in contrast to the 48.79 points gained in the previous five sessions. Brierley Investments was hit hardest, losing 13c to 385 c, after trading as high as 400 c. The rights also lost 13c. Alex Harvey also stood out on a loss of Bc. The ANZ Bank eased 3c, Dalgety Crown sc, and NZI Corporation 2c. In contrast, Fletcher Challenge firmed 2c. Good-
man, National Insurance, and Rothmans were also up. NZ Forest Products was steady at 320 c for the third consecutive session. Crusader Minerals was again actively traded, including 80,000 ordinary shares at an unchanged 25c, and 444,000 options at 10c, up Ic. Also busy was Oil Fields, as 258,000 contributing shares sold at a steady 12c. TNL Group continued to rise, gaining a further Bc, and Waikato Stud was again actively traded. Among the forestry trusts, seldomtraded Opio Forestry Fund improved 10c, but Nuhaka lost 15c. Both issues are handled by Perpetual Trustees.
