Family Care package welcomed
The Family Care package has been welcomed by the Christchurch Low Incomes Working Party. However, the convener, Mr Lindsay Talbot, said that it had to be looked at in context and it seemed that the Government was ‘taking away with one hand what it had given with the other. He noted that middleincome families would also receive the Family Care benefit, but little had been done for the low-income person without a family. He was “less than pleased” by the proposed electricity price rise and wanted more detail on the proposed goods and services tax.
