Box 746, NELSON Technical Manager for Ferrous Foundry We have been retained by our client to recommend the appointment of a Technical Manager for their large, old established, Christchurch based, Ferrous Foundry which is a corporate part of the Manufacturing Division of a substantial national engineering and marketing organisation with international connections. The Foundry employs a staff in excess of 40, uses induction melting, and is a major supplier of flake and nodular iron castings to the New Zealand Engineering Industry. The Appointment Emphasis is attached to product development and maximising of production efficiency through the progressive quality assurance programmes of a results oriented Technical Manager to widen their product range and customer base. The Requirement Applicants will be aged around 25-40 years with a good education and preferably qualified in metallurgy or an associated science; or hold a Diploma in Foundry Technology or have completed a New Zealand Foundry Apprenticeship with additional extramural study in Quality Assurance. Alternatively we are interested in an approach from suitable people already advancing in these studies. It is fundamental to have a good balance of “down to earth”, and comprehensive, practical experience of Foundry operations. Man management ability and the personal qualities to gain acceptance from customers and Foundry staff will be important requirements.
