Beauty contests
Sir,—The women who complain about beauty contests display their own ignorance. Beauty contests are only for the benefit of women, and not men at all. Evidence can be shown by surveying women’s magazines, full of pictures of women, hardly a man in sight. In general, women only see men as slaves to further their own ends, and the men do not mind at all. The judges, of course, should only be women — after all they know best. “He-men” contests should be arranged with men judges, but I am sure we would not object to a woman judge in this instance.—Yours, etc., CHRIS CHASTON. November 6, 1984.
