Blomqvist top driver
NZPA-AFP Abidjan Stig Blomqvist (Sweden) made sure of winning the world rally driver’s title when he drove his Audi Quattro to victory in the Ivory Coast rally on Sunday. Blomqvist’s Audi teammate Hannu Mikkola, of Finland, was second and Shekhar Mehta (Kenya)
third in a Nissan 240 RS. Alain Ambrosino, of the Ivory Coast, in an Opel Manta 400, was . the fourth and last finisher out of 50 who started the event last Wednesday. With only the the British R.A.C. rally to come this year, Blomqvist has an unbeatable lead in the world championship standings.
