Rugby Union gets letter from P.M.

PA Wellington The New Zealand Rugby Football Union has received a letter from the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, on the proposed tour of South Africa next year. But the rugby union’s chairman, Mr Ces Blazey, declined last evening to disclose details of the letter, saying that it was personal to him and should remain at that level. Mr Blazey said the letter

was tabled at yesterday’s meeting of the rugby union’s council but said it did not spark a discussion on the South African tour issue. “No action was necessary on the letter. Mr Lange will in due course get in touch with me,” said Mr Blazey.

The South African issue was not discussed at yesterday's meeting and he reiterated that no decision had yet been taken on the tour.
