Tourism ‘will not be harmed’

PA Invercargill The tourist industry in Queenstown should not be harmed by the publicity of contamination to its water supply by raw sewage, said the Mayor, Mr John Davies, yesterday. The contamination was caused by a blockage to the sewer line from the Sunshine Bay and Femhill subdivisions. Mr Davies said that it was unfortunate it had happened. In a week’s time people would have forgotten about it. The blockage occurred where the line ran through dense scrub and it would not normally be inspected or seen, he said.
