Big win for Cuba
NZPA-Reuter Havana Cuba defeated the United States, 10-1, on Tuesday to win the 1984 world amateur baseball championships. The Cuban victory was watched by a crowd of 55,000 including President Fidel Castro and the Soviet
Prime Minister, Nikolai Tikhonov. After the game, President . Castro hung medals around the necks of Cuba’s winning players. Taiwan took the silver medal ahead of the United States by beating Panama, 3-1, earlier in the day.
