Mighty Son appeals

Special correspondent Dunedin Mighty Son, which has built up a useful record this season, may have the edge on the three-year-olds in the Waikouaiti Stakes at the Waikouaiti Trotting Club’s meeting tomorrow. Mighty Son has won at Motukarara and Addington this season. He finished fourth against his age group at Addington Raceway last Friday. Samson advanced his claims for tomorrow’s race when he finished third to Nardin’s Hall and Loveridge last Friday. He did not strike form until his fourth start last season then won four times at Addington. He shares the difficult 20 metre mark with Adios Trick tomorrow.

Adios Trick has won her lone start this season, a three-year-old race at Methven a month ago. She won the main heat at the Addington trials last week, indi-

eating she has maintained fitness. Metal Mickey will be a prospect. He ran Adios Trick to a head at Methven and meets her on 20 metres better terms tomorrow. He won a CO mobile event at Oamaru last Saturday. Henry Hoover was impressive in winning first up at Oamaru and he should make his presence felt. Sure Charlie, trained on the course, could be hardest to beat in the Waikouaiti Cup. He has gone from strength to strength this season and was a last start winner at Forbury Park. He will be driven by Allan Scobie with his trainer, Stuart Allcock, under suspension. Southern Boy won easily at Oamaru on Monday and should manage the rise in class. He has won on grass. He will be driven by his Ryal Bush trainer Hamish Hunter, who is enjoying outstanding? success. Hunter

has had nine wins since August, one less than his best total for a season. The Waikouaiti Cup has proved difficult to win from behind the limit but Keepsake and Winning Note have the ability to overcome 20 metre handicaps. Keepsake has wins on grass at Methven and Motukarara this season. Toss Up has run some splendid races this season and could break through for a win. She came from the tail of the field for a close second to Toris at Oamaru on Monday.
