Fishing vessel damaged
PA Nelson The Skeggs fishing boat Waipouri was damaged by fire in Nelson yesterday morning, the. third company vessel in a mishap this year. Sparks from a gas-cutting torch being. used on the outside of an open port hole fell inside and ignited polystyrene seat squabs in the messroom. The fire was contained in the messroom. The Waipori had been tied up at the wharf for about a week on survey. On June 29 the Skeggs trawler Hawera sank off the West Coast and the next day another Skeggs trawler, Resolution II ran aground off Farewell Spit.
