Ski-field reports
Mount Hutt, with its snow base now down to 20cm, and Cardrona, near Wanaka, remain the only South Island ski-fields still open. Ski-ing is also available at the Tasman Glacier (with ski plane access) and Ben Ohau (helicopter). Both Mount Hutt and Cardrona report spring ski-ing conditions, according to the New Zealand Snow Centre. The Mount Hutt triple chairlift is no longer operating and at Cardrona ski-ing below the mid-station is marginal. Ben Ohau, which has a base of four metres, and the Tasman Glacier also report spring ski-ing conditions and Rian to stay open until mid[ovember.
