New drugs team
A team of 152 police officers will be recruited for the new New South Wales Drug Law Enforcement Bureau, says the Premier, Mr Neville Wran. The Opposition leader, Mr Nick Greiner, said that Mr Wran’s answer to the drug trade was to “transfer a handful of police into a renamed squad' and give them a budget no bigger than the average drug-runner would spill in a month.” The new bureau was inadequate and almost eight years too late. -Sydney.
