Peace purred to Powers?
NZPA-Reuter Palmdale Nancy Reagan said yesterday that she and her husband would like to visit the Soviet Union if he won a second term. “I think he’d like to, I’d love to,” she told reporters during a campaign trip with her husband. Mrs Reagan also discussed a conversation that she had when the Soviet Foreign Minister, Mr Andrei Gromyko, conferred with Mr Reagan in the White House on September 8. She said that at a reception before lunch Mr Gromyko had turned to her and said, “Is your husband for peace or war?”. “I said ‘peace’,” Mrs Reagan said. “He was a little bit surprised.” Mr Gromyko had then told her, “You whisper peace in his (Reagan’s) ear every night.” She replied, “I will, and I’ll also whisper in your -ear.”
