Papers on defence called propaganda
PA Wellington The Ministry of Defence papers released by the Government at the week-end were “no more than thinly veiled C.I.A. propaganda,” said the Social Credit spokesman on defence, Mr Dick Ryan, yesterday. “That both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence can accept this as meaningful information shows either a lack of
understanding of the superpower arena or a wish to mislead the public over their incompatible defence aims of alliance and antinuclear initiative,” he said. “In European defence circles these ‘secret’ Intelligence papers would have been laughed over and quickly pulped or shredded as useless garbage. Here we publistfthem in major daily newspapers.”
