From small beginnings
Mr Juan 'Lladro autographs a porcelain figurine at a promotion at the Colombo Street store of DJ.C., Ltd, yesterday. Lladro porcelain has become well known through-
out the world since Mr Lladro and his two younger brothers began producing figurines from a home-made kiln in the Spanish city of Valencia in the early 19505. Mr Lladro, on his first
visit to New Zealand, is combining sightseeing with appearances at store promotions. His presence at DJ.C. yesterday attracted a big gathering of collectors and
interested passers-by. The prices of figurines qh display ranged from $4O for a small duck to $1951 for a work titled “Ride in China.” The promotion ends today. '; /
