Keel in place
PA Auckland The keel of Lion New Zealand, an entry in next year’s round-the-world yacht race, was fitted to the gleaming hull last evening. Earlier in the day, hull and keel, on- separate cradles, were taken across the Auckland Harbour Bridge to the McMullen and Wing boatyard at Westhaven. Lion New Zealand is due to be officially launched on November 4; The rudder, steering wheels, lifelines and re-
maining interior fittings will be completed in the next few days. Lion New Zealand is due to leave Auckland on December 10 to compete in the Sydney-Hobart classic which starts on Boxing day. Later it, will go south to give the crew experience bf sailing among icebergs. After showing the flag in ports from Bluff to Russell, Lion New Zealand will sail to Auckland for final preparations before setting course for England early in April; ,i ' :
