Good whitebait catches on the Taramakau
Greymouth reporter Heavy rain last week discoloured and flooded many West Coast rivers but they have cleared again. The Taramakau River proved a good venue for whitebaiters and catches of 4kg to skg were common
along the riverbank, according to the Senior Fisheries Officer in the Ministry of Fisheries at Greymouth, Mr R. D. Lundy, yesterday. The whitebaiting season does' not end officially until November 14. Mr Lundy said good runs could still be expected on other rivers.
