Macho family men attacked
NZPA-AAP London The macho man, who sneaks off to the pub to be with his mates and away from his famimly has come under attack from Britain’s doctors. The British Medical Association's latest family doctor booklet has hit out at television advertisements that lured husbands down to the pub to behave like single men, the “Daily Express” reported. “Alcohol advertising is creating a macho image among British males which harms married life,” said the report entitled “You and Ytjxjr Baby.”
“It interferes with the bonding relationships between parents and their babies necessary for a child’s well-adjusted development,” it said. “Men must remember they can have just as pleasant an evening at home as with the boys.” The booklet, to be distributed free to 700,000 new mothers a year, said that it was not unmasculine for men to change nappies, bathe, feed, and walk their babies.
