Elephants' havoc
More than 470 homes and farmhouses have been destroyed by elephants in Nigeria’s north-eastern state of Borno. The daily newspaper, “National Concord,” quoted local officials in the affected area, Gwozo, as saying that the animals had caused serious damage to crops of millet, maize, beans and manioc.—Lagos.
