Camp plans at Oamaru
Pilots and navigators from the Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram will camp on the Oamaru airfield on Wednes-
day for, a week. The camp will be held by the Flying Training Wing at Wigram and will be commanded by Squadron Leader A. J. Beattie. Pilot and navigator trainees will use the camp to practise their skills over
unfamiliar terrain. They will also receive character development training in the field camp environment Chefs and stewards under training at Wigram will provide the catering services for the camp as part of their field conditions training. An open day will be held at the camp on Sunday, October 28, in conjunction with the Otago Air Cadet
League and flying routines, including aerobatics by the R.N.Z.A.F. Museum’s vintage Harvard aircraft will be featured. Proceeds from the open day will go towards the Oamaru Air Training Corps Squadron fund-raising effort to buy a Hudson bomber. Once bought, the Hudson will be given to the R.N.Z.A.F. Museum for restoration.
