PA Auckland A spate of armed robberies in Auckland in recent weeks is a cause of grave concern to the police, says , the Deputy Assistant Commissioner, of Police in Auckland, Mr Graham Perry. . . takpn Mr Perry said, “The greatest deterrent to armed robbers is early apprehension and substantial penalties in respect of the offenders. “If, in fact, the present’ trend is to be stopped it behoves all members of the public to assist in any possible way to achieve the apprehension I speak about.” Mr Perry said that the use of firearms, particularly sawn-off shotguns, was becoming common.
