Yachtsmen named
PA Wellington The Lion New Zealand skipper Peter Blake has named an experienced crew of 22 yachtsmen for his 1985-86 round-the-world race challenge. More than half the crew have ocean racing experience in the world’s major maxiyacht events — an attribute Blake rates along with proven seamanship as a prerequisite for competing in the gruelling 43,000 km Whitbread race. Blake, who has sailed in all three previous Whitbread races, has selected four other yachtsmen who took part in the last race in 1981-82. From his Ceramco New Zealand crew are Paul von Zalinski and Simon Gundry, as well as Grant Dalton and Godfrey Cray.
