Young to play Auck.
PA Auckland The promising 19-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman, Bryan Young, has been included in the New Zealand team to play Auckland at the end of the month. ! <’ Young is one of three Northern Districts players in the national team to play a practice match against Auckland at Cornwall Park on October 26, 28 and 29. Craig Presland of Northland, and David White, of Poverty Bay (both regular Northern Districts representatives last year) are the other recruits. Young has been selected as a batsman as lan Smith will keep wicket against Auckland in a match designed to give the New Zealand tourists some
competition before they leave for Pakistan. The selectors have included in the Auckland team two visiting professionals, the Auckland Cricket Association coach, Clive Radley, and the Worcestershire all-rounder, Dipak Patel. The two sides are:— New Zealand: Jeremy Goney (captain), Lance Cairns, John Reul, lan Smith, Stephen Boock, Evan Gray, Ewen Chatfield, Martin Crowe, Bryan Young, Craig Presland and David White. ;i - Auckland: Tom Hellaby (captain), Mark Greatbatch, Clive Radley, Dipak Patel, Alan Hunt, Peter Webb, Richard Brazendale, John Jessop, Paul Kelly, Gary Troup and Danny Morrison. ?.
