A volume containing a mass of information on youth in New Zealand has been published by the Internal Affairs Department. Hundreds of studies have been made covering almost every conceivable aspect of youth in New Zealand, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr Tapsell.
He said all this information had been brought together in “Youth Studies in New Zealand — A Bibliography 1960-83.” The bibliography would be updated from time to time and would prove invaluable to anyone studying youth.
Studies had been done in 32 subject areas by hundreds of researchers, and were all recorded, Mr Tapsell said. Its subjects included adolescence, employment, accommodation, health and social welfare. Its release would help focus attention on young people in the period leading up to the 1985 International Year of Youth. It would also help avoid duplication during research. The department will soon produce a companion volume to the bibliography which will give a statistical profile on youth. The bibliography is on sale at Government Bookshops.
