Heathcote festivities
Heathcote School and St Mary’s Church, Heathcote, will celebrate their 125th anniversary in August next year, the Heathcote County Council’s town-planning committee was told yesterday. Cr P. C. McGrail said that the celebrations would be held in a marquee on the school grounds on August 23, 24, and 25 next year. The centenary had been over two week-ends but it was felt that the anniversary would be better in only
one, he said.
The main school celebrations would be on the Saturday and the St Mary’s Church celebrations on the Sunday. Anybody who could remember an historic event at either the school or the church, or who had early photographs, could get in touch with the anniversary committee, said Mr McGrail.
Two signs will be erected in the county to advertise the anniversary.
