$11,000 computer dumped
Burglars took a computer valued about $ll,OOO from a business in Richmond on Monday night but later dumped it in the Avon River near Kerrs Reach. It would have taken at least two persons to remove the 1.8. M. personal computer, said the owner and proprietor of the Richmond Coal Supply, Mr Frank
Champ. The burglars had jemmied open the front door of the company’s premises in Chrystal Street before taking the printer, monitor, keyboard, and systems unit. Early yesterday residents near Kerrs Reach had seen people dumping the computer in the river, said Mr Champ.
The systems unit and the monitor have been returned to Mr Champ, but are unworkable. “It was brainless, thoughtless vandalism. I presume the burglars must have thought it was a saleable item,” said Mr Champ. Security at the company premises has been improved.
