Selwyn bridge to be open soon
The Selwyn River bridge on State highway 1 which has been closed since last November is expected to be reopened on December 4.
Traffic has been using a sealed ford through the riverbed during the widening and redecking of the 49-year-old bridge. The work, estimated to cost $404,000, is on schedule
in spite of delays caused by flooding in the early stages, according to a spokesman for the Ministry of Works and Development.
No special ceremony will be held to mark the reopening of the bridge in December. “It has really only been rejuvenated,” the spokesman said.
