Qualified Inspectors of Health undertake public health work which is interesting and varied, and entails investigations and field work in which the principles of environmental health science are applied. Applicants must have a university degree in a science discipline such as microbiology, food technology, environmental science or chemistry. The period of training is for 18 months and after qualification the person will be bonded for a period of 3 years and will be posted to one of the department’s 18 health districts. Detailed information on the course of training and subjects to be studied may be obtained from any District Health Office, or from Head Office, Department of Health. The salary payable during training, on qualification and after appointment, can be ascertained from the Staff Clerk.
