$6600 main race at Nelson
Stakes have been given a healthy lift by the Nelson Trotting Club in its proposed programme for its summer meeting on February 2 and 4 next. The club has deleted the race for three-year-olds from its first-day programme and a race for three and four-year-olds on the second day. The main race, which caters for C 3 to C 6 pacers on the first day, will carry a stake of 56600, $950 more than last year, making it the richest C 3 race on the calendar. Races for maiden horses will be worth $2500, $3OO more than previously, while Cl horses will race for $3OOO, an increase of $5OO. The stake for C2 horses will be $3500, an increase of 1700. The stake for the main race on the second day has been increased by $5OO to $4600. It will cater for C 3 to C 6 facers. 2
