Walsh on Kiwi
The Feilding jockey, David Walsh (aoove), will partner Kiwi in the Perry Dines Stakes at New Plymouth today and Balanchine in the Great Northern Guineas at Ellerslie tomorrow. Walsh will be one of three North Island jockeys riding at Washdyke on Monday, the others being Gary Phillips and Peter Fearon. Walsh has been engaged to ride Jonny Alone, Our Guard, Boy Named Sue, Alco Hall, Cool Blonde, Perkie’s Pal and Miracle Mouse. Phillips will ride Pokare, Sweet Sue, Midnight Sovereign, Rojeeni and Ariage, while Fearon, aged 20, an apprentice from Stratford, will travel south to ride Pokare, Cattle Lass, Sweet Chat, Jodie's Girl, Debatable, Reckon So and Beau Duncan, on which he was successful at Waterlea last month.
