Harris in satisfactory condition
PA Hastings The Palmerston North jockey, Noel Harris, was said yesterday to be in a satisfactory condition in the eye unit of Napier Hospital. Harris was admitted after receiving an injury to his left eye while riding Manchu in the Ormond Memorial at the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s race meeting on Wednesday. Harris received a blow to his eye when something was flicked up off the track with about 600 m to run in the 2000 m event. His eye was partially closed, swollen and inflamed when he returned to the jockeys’ room. It is not known whether he will be fit enough to ride at the Merton meeting tomorrow.
