Information on individuals
Sir, — At present the Wanganui Computer Centre can store information about any individual in New Zealand. Each person has a right to review the material stored on their file by writing to: P. L. Molineaux, Privacy Commissioner, Office of the Wanganui Computer Centre, P.O. Box 10094, Wellington. When a copy of their file is returned to them it contains a letter which states that if any of the information is wrong because of inaccuracies, omissions or the inclusion of unauthorised data, or presents a misleading impression then they may., complain to the. commissioner.' Although people may complain that an item about ’ 1
them is incorrect it will only be altered if that person is prepared to provide further information to replace it. If they do not (and they are not legally obliged to provide any further information) the incorrect details will remain on their file. — Yours, etc.,
