Coast Banksia

Banksia integrifolia is one of a genus of some 60 species, all indigenous to Australia with one exception, which is also found in Papua New Guinea.

This particular banksia, commonly known as the Coast Banksia because its natural habitat is on much of the eastern Australian coast line, is at its floriferous best now. But it does tend to

produce some flowers throughout the year. The flower spikes of this species are pale yellow becoming bronze with maturity. The leaves are green, almost glossily so, with silver tomentose on the under surface. B. integrifolia can form a most attractive medium-sized tree which can be very useful in exposed positions and in particular anywhere near the coast.
