Vin d’Amour in useful gallop

Special correspondent Woodville The Gold Trail Stakes candidate, Vin d’Amour, ran a useful gallop at Woodville yesterday morning. She worked with the Feilding runner, Diorella, and both pleased. Fast work was done on the middle of the course proper, which was in good order.

Vin d’Amour and Diorella took 53s for 800 m, both being well held over the last 600 in 395. Last season’s top two-year-old Vin d’Amour is making good progress for the Gold Trail at Hastings tomorrow week. Diorella is a prospect in the Ross Jones Handicap at Feilding. Suttle Knight ran 1600 m, recording Imin 24s for the last 1200 m and 42.5 s for the 600. He continues his Melbourne Cup preparation in the Tom Cook Handicap at Feilding. A race rival, Payco, ran the last 1200 m of his work in Imin 18.75, picking up Gossip soon after. They came from the 800 in 53.7 s and the 600 in 39.45.

Like Suttle Knight, Payco is booked on the October 24 flight to Melbourne. He is well, but should benefit from tomorrow’s race. The same applies to Gossip, which is booked to resume in the Fordyce Homes Handicap at Feilding. With

Marie McKay claiming an allowance, Gossip could earn some of the stake.

Ego and Jubilate finished 1400 m with 1200 in Imin 22.15, the last 600 in 425. Ego is a likely chance in the Placemakers Highweight at Feilding. A race rival, Chimeric, galloped with Paisano. They had the pace on well before the 1600 m, running from the 1200 in Imin 24.75, the final 600 in 42.45. Tioga Mellay and Queen Cozama ran 1000 in Imin 8.75, the last 600 in 38.95.
