Mr Jones criticises Treasury
PA Wellington The timing of the Treasury Department’s remarks on the economy was criticised by the New Zealand Party leader, Mr Bob Jones. “All of the observations in the report without exception are absolutely correct, but what is alarming is that the Treasury did not speak up two years ago When all of its observations were equally valid. In not doing so it carries a partial responsibility for much of the damage that has been done,” Mr Jones said. “It is sickening to observe almost daily various industry leaders, Government officials, and other commentators coming out of the woodwork now the Muldoon Government has been defeated,” he said. Anyone could be brave when the battle was over but where were they when the damage was being done? he said.
