Plunket visits already made

Plunket nurses already make visits to mothers in their homes for up to six or eight weeks, especially if they have twins or triplets, according to the national president of the Plunket Society, Mrs Myra Graham.

Mrs Graham was responding to a decision made at the Multiple Births Association’s annual meeting at Heretaunga that the Plunket Society be asked to initiate home visits for

mothers with more than one baby. Mrs Graham said the Plunket Society already had a policy that Plunket nurses visit mothers for up to six weeks, and two months if necessary. Because of staffing shortages, this was not always possible. Mrs Graham endorsed the request of the Multiple Births Association for more funding by the Government for this purpose.
