Writer award
PA Wellington The Choysa Bursary for Children’s Writers has been increased $lOOO to $BOOO, said the Minister for the Arts, Dr Peter Tapsell. The bursary, which is funded jointly by Quality Packers, Ltd, and the Literary fund, is intended to enable an author of imaginative work for children to work full-time on an
approved project for up to six months, Dr Tapsell said. Any writer normally resident in New Zealand is eligible to apply for the award. The writers should have started at least one project which they intend to complete with the aid of the bursary. Applications for this year’s bursary will close on September 30 and the winner will be announced in November.
