The Clutha County is a predominantly rural district of some 2860 square kilometres in area, with 13,448 km of roads, and 187 bridges to maintain. At present, Council’s roading programe, is in excess of $3,000,000 per annum. The appointee is required to be self-motivated, with strength of character, and experience in programming, coordinating and supervising staff and plant operations. Applicants must possess a sound knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques. Experience in other practical fields of construction would also be desirable. The appointee must have the ability to communicate with others, and will be required to prepare written reports at regular intervals, on the progress of works. A commencing salary, of between $22,000-$24,000, with two further annual increments, of $lOOO, is offered for this position. Some assistance with housing may also be available.
