Sponsor for N.Z. Cop
Mr Roger Swolf, chairman of directors of the long-established Christchurch firm of Simms Jones, Ltd, confirms a deal with Dr Jeff Louisson (left), chairman of the Canterbury Jockey Club, at a function
last evening at which it was announced that the New Zealand Cup this year would be worth $85,000. Simms Jones, the manufacturer of Chemico and
several other products, has given an assurance that it will sponsor the Canterbury Jockey Club’s historic race for at least the next three years. The race in future will be known as the Chem-
ico New Zealand Cup. Outside their business interests, Mr Swolf and Mrs Swolf, who is also a director of Simms Jones, are keen racing enthusiasts, as breeders and owners.
