Kairaki Ben wins easily
Kairaki Ben showed his opposition a clean pair of
heels with a 15 length win in the heats of the America’s Trophy at Queen Elizabeth II Park on Monday evening. Beginning fast from the inside draw, Kairaki Ben led clearly on the first turn and never looked in any danger for his stylish win in 34.20 s (for 560 m).
This time was equalled by Kaianga Lass, which had come from mid-field, but finished strongly to win running away by two lengths. Billy Whizz and Hotspur Hobbs were others to show to advantage with easy wins, and looked the likely improvers.
The 32 qualifiers to reach the semi-finals, which will be run on September 7 are: Fleeting Chant, Cuddly Carla, Ten Speed, Cannobie Lea, Hotspur Hobbs, Dasyu Sundary, Aera’s Havoc, Another Runaway, Billy Whizz,
Heather’s Moon, Wadderin Maid, Flying Tebeldy, Keytoe Abbe, Delaware May, Same Image, Fast Stroll, Cheeky Kate, Amelia, Lady Tiree, Why Linger, Handsome Heir, Jackalar’s Angel, Patreka Lass, Doc Hilarity, Kaianga Lass, Taurean Sky, Dumb Model, Eddie’s Sister, Kairaki Ben, Outlaw Kid, Apache Wonder, Watch Our Star. Kelly Air continued her preparation for coming events at Queen Elizabeth II Park with a brilliant late run to beat Silent Kilty and Wadderin Mist in the C 4 event in 34.40 s (for 560 m).
