Lobb out of badminton
PA Auckland Chris Tapper (Waitemata) beat the sixth seed Stephen Lobb (Auckland), in straight games in the national badminton championships yesterday. Tapper won the second round men’s singles match, 1510, 15-8. Apart from Lobb, no other seeded players bowed out on the first day of the champion-
ships. In the men’s singles, Prasanna Gulasekharam (Canterbury) had a hard battle against the former Auckland representative, Grant Stone, in the first round. Prasanna won 5-15, 18-13, 15-11 but went out the next round to the fifth seed, Jacob van Seim, (Waitemata), 15-8, 15-5. 28/08/21-50NZ
