J.P.s remand 37 people on various charges

Thirty-seven people appeared in the District Court yesterday on a total of 87 charges as a result of a 15-month operation by an undercover police officer. The defendants, all from Christchurch, faced charges ranging from drug offences, to burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. The alleged offences dated from June, 1983, to this month. All but one of the defendants ' appeared before Messrs R. M. Naysmith and J. B. Andersen, Justices of the Peace, and most were represented by the duty solicitors, Mr T. W. Fournier and Miss E. H. B.
