Internal deficit for July $320.8M
PA Wellington The internal deficit for July was $320.8 million, said the Secretary to the Treasury, Mr Bernard Galvin, yesterday. Net expenditure for the month was $1277.5 million and revenue $956.7 million, he said. The Minister of Finance, Mr Douglas, said that the deficit showed the “grossly imbalanced” state of the country’s finances left by the National Administration. “The Labour Government must continue an active public debt policy to ensure that the internal deficit does not create conditions for renewed inflation,” said Mr Douglas.
