All Whites to England?
PA Auckland Arrangements for a game between the All Whites and England B in Southampton on November 13 are expected to be confirmed tonight, the chairman of the New Zealand Football Association, Mr Charlie Dempsey, said yesterday. A number of clubs, including West Ham and Chelsea, had also expressed interest in playing New Zealand, Mr Dempsey said. However, the proposed tour would be approved only if the association could
arrange games in Japan on the way to England. “We. have already confirmed two games in Fiji, which should bring us ?20,000,” said Mr Dempsey, “but we need more than that to make it viable. “We are expecting an answer from a prospective sponsor tomorrow which could also help the council in making up its mind,” he said. A council decision in respect to the tour is expected when it meets in Auckland at the week-end.
