Christmas stamps

PA Wellington A Wellington church, an old master painting, and a symbolic Christmas scene will feature on this year’s Christmas stamps, two of which have been designed by a Christchurch artist, Peter Durrant. Mr Durrant designed the 18c stamp which shows a detail of “Adoration of the Shepherds,” by the Italian Renaissance painter, Lorenzo di Credi, and the 35c stamp which depicts Wellington’s Old St Paul’s Church. The 45c stamp, designed by Maurice Conly, of Waikanae, shows ringing bells and a pohutukawa as symbols of a New Zealand Christmas. The stamps will go on sale on September 26.
